We were born with the unlimited potential to intentionally create (use the law of attraction) to manifest all of our heart's desires. Together, as Conscious Leaders guided by the Divine, we have the Mind Power necessary to co-create a sustainable, harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous world. And, we can do this while also attracting and creating a passionate, loving, rich, healthy life with all of our personal dreams fulfilled.
January 31, 2012Negativity is “like” an addiction- it causes a physiological response, it can feel compulsory at times, and it can be very difficult to shake!Category: law of attraction — Anisa @ 4:19 pm Negativity is “like” an addiction- it causes a physiological response, it can feel compulsory at times, and it can be very difficult to shake! But, not everyone has agreed with my last article “Negativity Addiction.”
Q: I do not agree – Negative Thoughts should not be classified as an addiction! I read the article about having negative thoughts being an addiction and I must say that all my being just reeled at the lack of understanding of why we truly have negative thoughts of the kind the questioner submitted. Having such negative thoughts is not and should never be classified as an addiction. To make such a classification may seem applicable and knowledgeable and on the surface may seem to be an addiction, but it is very far from the truth. The problem is that most people just don’t understand how or why the mind functions as it does and that every aspect of our existence is subject to the Laws and mechanics of this universe and the mind is no exception. I know this is not a positive response to the article but I just felt another view needed to be presented even if not accepted or maybe it will give pause for reconsideration. Thank you for hearing me out on this and I will understand if it is not posted. – John A: Negativity is “like” an addiction- it causes a physiological response, it can feel compulsory at times, and it can be very difficult to shake! I appreciate your view and trust that your post will support others who do not want to classify negative thoughts as addictive. I believe there is room enough for varied perspectives. And more importantly whichever idea or perspective is the most helpful in overcoming negativity is the one best for a person. I also certainly agree that most do not understand how or why the mind functions as it does and that it is at the mercy (or is it glory?) of the Universal Laws. And, it is this Truth that allows me to maintain that negativity is an addiction. With the Law of Attraction as an example, we know that like attracts like. With negative thoughts, the more worried and fearful we become the more worries and fears we attract. On a physiological level, stress causes the hypothalmus to secrete cortisol (the stress hormone.) For many, the experience of cortisol in our system becomes so normal that not feeling stressed results in our emotional discomfort. For example, for some when they do not feel stressed (when they are not experiencing the consequences of cortisol) they then begin to fear that they are ‘not prepared’ or not ‘doing enough’ or that they could be ‘setting themselves up for disappointment’. These examples are only a few of the many reasons people become addicted to stress (and thus the stress hormone, cortisol.) Take the example of a war veteran. When a hero comes home, long after they have left the traumatic battlefield, they will often continue to experience the stress of being on edge and not being able to let their guard down. When they reflect on what keeps them up at night, it is often a fear that if they are not hyper-vigilant about all the things that could go wrong, then their families will not be protected. They believe If they are not prepared for negative scenarios, it will be their fault because they themselves were not aware, nimble, and responsive to the signs of danger. Thus, the ‘stress-response’ and negative thoughts actually support their belief of “I keep myself and my family safe from harm by being ready for anything”. Isn’t it ironic that in actuality we are most responsive and have the greatest access to our highest-level response when we are in the ‘Zone’ (as athletes know it). The “zone” of course is also known as “the flow” or “being fully present in the NOW.” The belief that we must be hyper-aware in order to stay safe, as you can imagine, makes it extremely difficult to see clearly the benefit to positive thinking. After all, how does positive thinking keep my family prepared for the worst case scenarios?!? Taking this one “physical” step further, adrenal exhaustion is the physical manifestation of too much cortisol pounding our system over a period of time. This condition has been scientifically linked to negative and stressful thoughts. Once we’ve reached adrenal exhaustion it can be very difficult to maintain a positive thought when we feel so exhausted. This of course results in a cycle of negative thoughts and further adrenal exhaustion – a never-ending loop of more reasons to be negative, confirming and justifying the experience of negativity. Like an addiction, the negativity feels compulsory and out of our control. Perhaps I need to be clear about the word Addiction and in what context I’m really using it. Some feel that addiction means enslaved, or the condition of compulsive dependency. The words enslaved and compulsive make it sound as though the addiction cannot be halted, changed, or intentionally released. Some will even go so far as to associate addiction with disease, turning something manageable, tractable and submissive into something obstinate and uncontrollable. If my claim that negativity is an addiction has been interpreted as ‘negativity is uncontrollable’, I apologize, as that is NOT the truth or what I want to express. I need to make it VERY clear – all addictions are malleable and if not controllable, then certainly manageable. We have the power to bring any addiction to its knees and release it for good. Negativity, like other addictions, can be hard to shake. Ask anyone that finds themselves perpetually worrying about money, life, their family members, their health, etc. They know that worrying doesn’t actually help the situation. They’ve been informed that that the leading cause of illness is stress, and yet their fears persist. They know that negative thoughts are the cause of distress and yet they can’t stop worrying. When we consider negativity like an addiction, we become aware of a pathway out of darkness and into ‘recovery’. Like other addictions, there is a physiological response and we can become accustomed (addicted) to that physical response. I’ve received more than 100 emails this week, many sharing their ‘Aha’ moment when they realized they are addicted to negative thinking. And, NOW that they are claiming it, and accepting that they indeed have a ‘problem’, many have shared their realization – “It’s time to take a stand and do something about my stinking thinking!” One friend even went so far as to share, “I feel the physical response and even find myself confused when I try to not be stressed. It’s as if my body doesn’t know how to behave if I actually choose to trust and flow with life. It feels like I am going through withdrawals. My stomach turns and I feel anxious, as if I need a quick anger-or-fear-fix to get myself back to normal.” It’s this BIGGER experience of understanding –> “WHY should I change my thinking? “…Because I have a problem that is wrecking my happiness!” This awareness (for many of my fellow conscious creators that have emailed) has launched a determined stance; a resolute grit set on doing something bold and momentous towards eliminating negativity.
Through the awareness that we become addicted to our negative thoughts and addicted to the physical experience of cortisol, we have an opportunity to choose. We have the option now of choosing to refuse the stressful thoughts that once controlled us. We have the option of taking action to eliminate worry and our habitual stress-response to life. We have the option of meditation as a means of managing stress or physical activity, or even deep breathing. We have the option of affirmative, empowering thoughts (as an intentional declaration) and we have the option of using emotional clearing tools such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or NLP, (Neuro-Linguistics Programming) exercises. We have the option of acupuncture, chiropractic, HeartMath exercises, Quantum Jumping, aromatherapy, or Bach flower remedies (to name only a few options.) I trust that the idea that supports you in overcoming limited thinking is the one you choose moving forward. I appreciate different perspectives and know that together we are building very important (and critical) bridges from limited living to unlimited potential. I am honored to be on this journey with you. For the previous article on Negative Thinking is Addictive, read online here. January 26, 2012Am I really addicted to negative emotions and negative thoughts?Category: law of attraction — Anisa @ 3:22 pm Q: I don’t know why I can’t stop focusing on the negative. I know I’m not supposed to. I know I’m supposed to be positive, and be grateful, and appreciate what I have but I can’t! I’ve been told by my friends, “You’re never satisfied” and “You need to just let yourself be happy.” When they ask me, “What makes you happy?” My answer is always about things I want but do not have. I realize I’ve accomplished many goals and have many things to be grateful about but I’m dissatisfied and constantly looking for something more and finding fault with what I have. A: In one word – ADDICTION. I know… don’t curse me for saying the “A” word! “But, why would I be addicted to negative emotions?” you ask! Because…. “…Pain and negative emotions activate the reward centers of the brain, causing unconscious addiction to those negative emotions.” –Dr. Ali Binazir in an article on Huffington Post Take a simple quiz:
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above (or make up your own) , then consider your automatic response the symptom of a negative emotion addiction. Addiction is our unconscious attempt at making things better. Alcoholics and drug addicts reach for alcohol and drugs because the “trip” they take during a high seems better than sobriety. Likewise, we’ve trained ourselves to reach for ‘negative emotions’ as a way of defending against our bigger insecurities. Now, let’s focus on the solution… Remember the presupposition – “Underneath every behavior is a positive intent”? When we are addicted to negative emotions, it is our attempt at avoiding personal accountability and discomfort. Take any of the above questions and ask the question again with, “What does this say about me?” For example, if I burn my mouth on hot coffee, what does that say about me? Perhaps it says “I’m stupid and impatient because I knew the coffee was hot.” When we get angry at the coffee then we get to avoid being held personally responsible for our own stupidity (albeit self-assessed stupidity). On the other hand, someone that has released their addiction to negative emotions may still burn their mouth but the scenario looks more like the following: “Ouch! Wow, that was silly of me. That hurt! Okay, well it looks like I’ll remember coffee is hot next time!” This is followed by a complete willingness to be compassionate and forgiving. What about when we are dissatisfied with our status, career, or level of prosperity? If you find that you are constantly dissatisfied and complaining about what you have not yet achieved, despite having worked hard and/or achieved some of your goals, then look for the positive intent underneath your complaints. Is there a part of you that fears that if you are too easy on yourself you’ll become complacent, or lazy, or less motivated? Or perhaps you believe if you celebrate your victories you’ll be seen as egotistical or a braggart? Are you seeing the positive intent here? By reaching for negative emotions, it might be a positive attempt at avoiding complacency or being egotistical. But what about when someone else puts us down or unfairly judges us? It’s difficult to stay connected and retain your equanimity when others say or do hurtful things. We have a natural desire to want to please others and have their approval. However, you must choose to step outside the situation and refuse to be a victim, and dismiss your need for approval. What’s the solution? First, accept your negative emotion addiction. Simply say out-loud: “I’m addicted to negativity. I am helpless to stop it on my own and I need help.” (Yuck – tastes awful doesn’t it!?! Keep owning the addiction and asking for help, eventually you’ll feel Spirit’s warm, comforting embrace and realize you are not alone in your fight for positivity!) Next, cease and desist the self-defeating judgments and forgive yourself completely (I recommend CollinTipping’s Radical Forgiveness) and refuse to take anything personally (I recommend Don Miguel Ruiz’s, The Four Agreements.) Finally, take an inventory of my negative thoughts and emotions and use Emotional Freedom Technique to eliminate every last one. EFT founder, Gary Craig’s personal peace process is a transformational process. Get a lined notepad and write down every negative thought or limiting belief you can think of. Don’t hold anything back and consider all the areas of your life (Health, Wealth, Success, Career, Relationship, Emotional, Mental, Adventure, etc.) Use quick sentences (bullet points) to write your list. Assess how uncomfortable on a scale of 1-10 the negative thought feels and write that number down. Now, each day spend 15 minutes applying Emotional Freedom Technique to your list, one-by-one, until each issue is completely neutralized. (You know you’ve neutralized the issue when you say the words but have absolutely no emotional charge about it. You recall you once felt negative about the issue but now you feel nothing, totally neutral.) When you’ve completed these three steps, your life will be more fulfilling and joyous. And, the most beautiful thing is shortly your life will catch up; you’ll have even more things to be joyous and excited about! That’s the beauty of conscious creation – BE happy now for no reason and reasons to be happy will flow into your life from every direction! You HAVE to kick negative though addiction and don’t stop until happiness is your everyday experience, regardless of external circumstances! January 5, 2012Affirmations Work: Succeed with Your New Year’s Resolutions by Mind-Washing – with Affirmations!Category: Affirmations,Attract Opportunities,Attract Prosperity, attract relationship,Audios Free Downloads, law of attraction,Videos — Anisa @ 5:58 pm Happy New Year! I LOVE this time of year! The energy of change, growth, renewed excitement about goals and what lies ahead… I love getting recharged over the holidays and then using January to launch full force into my new year. I do this by going over my goals, setting out new mind-maps around what I want to achieve and re-aligning my affirmations for the year.
I ask the questions and allow my heart to answer. Then, I write out affirmations that specifically appreciate ALREADY achieving and living the very thing I now want to create. Here’s a video with a LONG list of powerful affirmations for many different areas of life (Health, Wealth, Love/Relationships, family, parenting, personal/mental/spiritual growth, global evolution, etc.) I hope you enjoy it and be sure to create your own: And, here’s a list of affirmations for you to pick/choose from: Affirmations and Positive Statements absolutely work!
If they didn’t, then they would not have stood the test of time for thousands of years; nor would every mystic and every spiritual teacher that has ever lived have been consistent with this same Truth, “Be mindful of your words for they are powerful.”
Affirmations are simple. Simply say what you want as if you already have it. Then, as your confidence picks up, stretch yourself to the next level of belief by asking for just a wee bit more!
A couple of quick do’s:
-Do state affirmations in the present tense – NOW. -Do keep them short and meaningful for you. -Do reach for as much as you can believe while not going so far that you doubt the possibility. -Do focus on the positive of what you want, not the negative of what you don’t want. - Start with I or I AM; include positive emotions such as, “I am grateful.” -When necessary, you may DENY the negative that you do not want during times of transition. In other words, if you KNOW you are doubtful and you can’t speak positively without the feeling of doubt, then DENY the negative by REFUSING to accept it. It’s perfectly acceptable to REFUSE to accept ‘this poverty’, ‘this ailment’, ‘this failure’. Eventually, however, you’ll want to get over the transition period and focus only on the positive outcome you intend. - Do use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to remove all doubt.
Here are some affirmation examples:
Examples of Health Affirmations:
I put my desires and health first. I take care of myself. I honor my time. I am motivated and inspired to work out regularly and consistently. I love to exercise. I thrive on moving the energy. I feel good when I work out. I make exercise a priority and it’s effortless effort! There is nothing more important than my physical health. It is a way of life. I like the way I look and feel in any and all of my clothes. I feel and act trim and energetic at all times. I enjoy eating healthy and take time to plan my meals. I choose the food that makes my body celebrate. I eat fresh, raw, whole, organic fruits & vegetables frequently. I enjoy preparing my meals and snacks. I always have healthy snacks readily available. My skin is smooth and young and glowing with health. I cleanse my body and release refined sugar. I have a habit of educating myself on the effects of sugar and draw a book about this into my life.
Examples of affirmations to specifically heal a portion of your body: (Knee example) Regarding my Knee: I commit to: I focus on the truth that my knee is perfect and healthy right now. My perception of myself is the only thing that needs to be healed. Any evidence that I’m less than optimally healthy is a meaningless illusion whose purpose is to distort reality. I choose to commit to healing my knee. I do medical hypnosis on my knee every night before I go to sleep. I exercise my knee regularly. I turn all my fears over to God. I acknowledge healing happens when the sufferer no longer sees any value in pain. Decisions are of the mind, not the body. There is no gain to me at all in this knee problem. My knee is strong, stable, reliable, flexible and active. I now release all fears about this.
A Prayer example: Universe – God – Help me know the Truth of my wholeness; the Truth of my Divine health and inspire me to take action to heal; and to allow healing to occur. God, work your magic through me as I focus on healing myself. Shift me and help me to be open to feeling your loving energy. Jesus, Master Healer, please assist me in this healing. I allow that Christ Conscious energy to flow through me at all times.
EMOTIONS: I allow myself to feel, express and honor my full range of emotions and I express them freely and in the moment. I no longer repress or deny my feelings ever again. Help me release my need to attract codependent partners and to honor my worth – and attract a healthy interdependent relationship. Please help me see instantly and with crystal clear vision the compatibility of any partner that may enter into my life as a potential mate with my highest desires in mind.
FINANCIAL: I am set free from the past and my financial mistakes of the past. I now face the present and future wise, secure and unafraid. I am grateful to receive $100,000 per month – free and clear! (NOTE: Use the amount that stretches you but does is not full of doubt. When I first started this, I was only able to imagine $15.00 an hour or about $1200.00 per month!) I release the burden of debt to the Christ within and I am free, clear and paid in full at all times. I now give and receive freely. Money is energy representing my inflow and outflow. Abundance is my Birthright and anything less than prosperity is an illusion. I reject the illusion of poverty and choose abundance, financial freedom and success. I am the embodiment of wealth. God, take away all inequity and deliver to me the truth of my being as a prosperous, rich child of a loving Father. The Universe spoils me! In the past, I was uncomfortable receiving, but now I recognize God’s gifts and I now accept them gracefully and peacefully. I attract people that help me grow, and I now accept all loving gifts. All of my financial fears and questions are now put to rest easily. When the right home appears, the perfect financial means and/or lender is instantaneously available. I am Prosperous! I am grateful to now have a net worth in excess of 60.6 Million dollars! (NOTE: Again, use the amount that is the most realistic stretch for you at this time, while stretching yourself a little more as often as possible) I purchase anything I desire, when I desire it in cash. My obligations are always paid in full and in advance easily and effortlessly. I am an abundant child of a Rich Father in Heaven – Prosperity is my Birthright and I claim it now. I have more than enough to spare and to share. My income far exceeds all of my wants, needs and desires. I strongly attract that which is good and uplifting into my life.
Now, remember that affirmations planted on toxic soil are less effective than a positive statement planted on healthy, confident soil.
